Washington Today (2-15-24): Judge orders first criminal trial against Donald Trump to start March 25

A New York judge says the Donald Trump 'hush money' case will begin as scheduled with jury selection on March 25. It will be the first time a former U.S. president goes on trial on criminal charges.

In Donald Trump's election interference case in Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis testifies in a hearing accusing her of misconduct by misusing public money in a personal relationship with a special prosecutor. She says outright the attorney for a defendant who brought the allegations is lying.

U.S. House passes a bill to undo President Joe Biden's pause on Liquified Natural Gas export permits, a pause the president says is necessary to study of the economic and environmental impact of LNG exports.

IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel tells a House committee that it will be able to handle changes to the Earned Income Tax Credit the House passed and the Senate is considering, that apply to the current tax filing season, if the bill becomes law.
