How poor land management contributes to flooding | Fezile Mhlanga | TEDxGwamileStreet
As the world grapples with record breaking floods annually, it is paramount to find sustainable solutions to deal with these disasters. In her talk, Fezile offers the audience an alternative lens from which to view floods. Drawing from her ecological background, she argues that floods have more to do with improper land use management than we are led to believe.
Fezile is a young and vibrant Ecologist who is passionate about all things nature. She is fascinated by soil and the intricate relationship which all life forms have with the soil. It is this reason which prompts her to actively advocate for soil rehabilitation. Fezile believes a significant cause of the ecological crisis we witness today, stems from our divergence from our biological way of life. She therefore centers most of her advocacy around rewilding, not just nature but rewilding ourselves as well. She is also passionate about sharing scientific research through storytelling in order to make it accessible for citizens who have been marginalized and oppressed. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
