Montevideo, Uruguay

Montevideo is the largest city, the capital and chief port of Uruguay. Montevideo is the only city in the country with a population over 1,000,000.

The video begins at the port on the Rio de la Plata and then continues in downtown at Plaza Independencia (Spanish for Independence Square). It splits Ciudad Vieja from downtown Montevideo, with the Gateway of The Citadel on one side and the beginning of 18 de Julio avenue on the other. Next we stop at the Parliament Building followed by the famous sculpture La Diligencia (The Sage Coach), Monument to the last Charruas indians. Next stop was the soccer stadium followed by the Plaza de la Armada where we got nice views of the Rio de la Plata. I then walk through downtown Montevideo a bit before returning to the ship and sailing away in late afternoon.
