PRESENT PERFECT TENSE – COMPLETE DESCRIPTION

The Present Perfect Tense is used to talk about actions that started in the past but have a connection with the present. It shows experience, result, completion, or change without mentioning the exact time of the action.

This tense is very important in modern English, especially in spoken English, because it focuses on what has happened rather than when it happened.

🔹 What is Present Perfect Tense?

The Present Perfect Tense is used when:

An action happened in the past, but its effect is still visible

We talk about life experiences

The exact time is not mentioned

An action has just finished

An action started in the past and continues till now

🔹 Structure of Present Perfect Tense
✅ Affirmative (Positive Sentences)

Subject + has / have + past participle (V³)

Examples:

I have finished my work.

She has completed the task.

They have visited Delhi.

We have learned English grammar.

❌ Negative Sentences

Subject + has / have + not + past participle

Examples:

I have not seen that movie.

He has not called me yet.

They have not understood the rule.

❓ Interrogative (Questions)

Has / Have + subject + past participle?

Have they arrived?

I have lived here for ten years.

He has worked in this office since 2018.

5️⃣ Repeated actions till now

We have watched this movie many times.

She has called me twice today.
