Monarch Butterflies at the Stonington Peninsula

Catching a glimpse of thousands of butterflies gathering along the coast of Lake Michigan for their annual migration journey is something you might be lucky enough to see when you visit Delta County in late summer and early fall. The Peninsula Point Lighthouse, located at the tip of the Stonington Peninsula, is home to one of the most amazing natural occurrences each year as Monarch butterflies make their journey to Mexico for the winter. This is one of the only places in the world where you can see a sight like this. We talked to Tom Desy from the Monarch Project to learn more about this phenomenon and how they track the journey of these beautiful travelers.
