Coldwar defence bunker i Hanekleiva
In Norway during the 70's and 80's the major threat of a invasion is from from Russia.
The military constructed several defence positions and prepared plans should this became a reality.
The main idea was that coastal forts on Bolærne and Rauer and laid minefields would prevent the enemy from entering the Oslo by sea, in østfold plans was drawn up for sinking ships in the port area so that these were useless for enemy ships.
Therefore the enemy had to go ashore in Vestfold, where the Norwegian army would try to prevent the enemy to get a beachhead and throw them back into the sea.
If this was not possible the army would withdraw and fight in different areas until thy reach Haneklaiva area north in Vestfold county.
In the area of HaneKleiva there would be established a blocking line with intent to prevent the enemy to advance to Oslo, this area was given the name Hillstaddefileet.
Vestfold county is very flat and invading force with tanks and infantry would have a good base to go forward.
But when it comes to the area Hillestaddefileet there is an area where there are mountains and natural obstacles that force the enemy to use the roads in the area.
To force the enemy of these roads old E18 just north of Holmestrand would be blown up and it would slip into the sea, this will provide a large open gap with vertical cliff on one side and the open sea on the other.
To go forward in this area would not be possible for a large mechanical strength, thus they would have to use alternative roads towards Oslo.
On HaneKleiva there was in 1989 completed a defence construction, with integrated positions for RFK 84mm, 18 built-in positions for MG3 and an open exterior position NM45 anti-aircraft gun.
The facility was self-sufficient with electricity and it could be hermetically sealed so it was gas tight. The facility is solidly constructed and is blasted out of the mountain with rock-fill around and over.
