Why I choose this pipe bender!

Welcome back to the channel on today’s video we’re gonna be talking all about my favourite pipe bender from Monument tools. Despite you’ve seen a lot in all my videos and I thought in this video, I would explain exactly the reason why..

they make two separate sizes in this pipe bender one is 50 mm and the other is 22. If you live outside the UK then these benders might not fit your pipe size as you could have measurements in inches when this one is designed and made in the UK for our pipe sizes in millimetres .

what I really like about this bender is that the 15 mm version which is the one that I find myself using a lot as a domestic plumber is nice compact in size. The form factor is perfect for me to be able to slide it into a small installation bag and always have it with me at all times they do a 22 mm version which is a little bit bigger as obviously we need leverage . I do find these a little bit stiff to use now we do have extensions that you can put in the arms to maximise leverage, but I found that when I put it on the floor it is a little bit too high for me as I’m not the tallest of people and I can’t get my weight above it.

everybody is probably more accustomed to the scissor bender which has two sizes in one and relies on a roller and former designed to bend the copper. I don’t know about you but I always either find myself losing these formers or end up using them as a chisel. this model is from a company called benditnow, these basically manufacture and exact copy of the old hilmors as they are now not made how they used to be .The Monument tools design has this former built in it’s in a form of plastic but it has held up really really well. The main floor with using the scissor bender is that has markings on the side which are very confusing as it doesn’t tell you exactly where these markings should be either on your pipe to the side of it or in the middle.
This can genuinely give inaccurate and inconsistent pipe bends .

The Monument tools bender has markings on the side. We have a 30 45 60 and 90. All you have to do is put your pipe into the bender drop the arm over the top on the locating lugs and then pull down until you’ve reached that mark it as simple as that the design is unique as it keeps everything all in line that makes it super easy to be able to get your bands correct we don’t have to worry about offset being at different angles as you can just line it all up with the arms.

In my videos I like to make videos on how to bend perfectly so finding little hacks with using the pipe benders which allows me to be much more efficient on the job site.
