He Survived the Battle of Ingalls — Then Heck Thomas Finished It #ok #history #oklahoma #facts

The undertaker counted twenty buckshot wounds in Bill Doolin's chest. After surviving the 1893 Battle of Ingalls — where his gang killed three U.S. Marshals and vanished — Doolin became Oklahoma Territory's most wanted outlaw. Captured in an Arkansas bathhouse, he broke out of jail, only to be hunted down by Deputy Marshal Heck Thomas near Lawson in 1896. He's buried in Guthrie's Boot Hill, right next to another Oklahoma legend. 🔦
