Gachapon (aka gashapon) are Japanese capsule toys that you buy from vending machines. Lots of them are anime figures, badges or keychains, but there are also so many bizarre, funny and kawaii figures you can collect. Here's my round-up of funny, cute and strange gacha capsule toys, along with some tips about where to go gachapon shopping in Tokyo. You can find them in all the major city centre areas like Akihabara, Ikebukuro, Shinjuku and Shibuya, especially around arcades (game centres) and anywhere that has shops selling cute things, anime merch or character goods, like Character Street in Tokyo Station or Nakano Broadway.
