The "LABS BlasterBoard" Homebrew Soundcard
The BlasterBoard by Vogons forum member LABS is another SoundBlaster compatible ISA homebrew card. Contrary to the Snark Barker reverse engineering it is designed from the ground up and uses an Atmel 328 MCU as the DSP.
The BlasterBoard is SoundBlaster 2.0 compatible with mono output (stereo for CD-ROM). It has inputs for CD-ROM audio and PC speaker, but is missing the recording functionality of the Snark Barker. It is also doing away with a gameport and MIDI. However the mixing and amplification stage has four separate volume controls and is very low noise. It has the possibility to become a very compact and hight quality retro gaming sound card!
