35-year old Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the finest soccer stars ever to grace the pitch. The Portuguese and Juventus forward is also one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. Cristiano has been scoring goals, lifting trophies, breaking records, and of course, making lots of money. Forbes recently declared the Portuguese captain the first soccer player to join the billionaires club. He joins Tiger Woods and retired boxer Floyd Mayweather as the only athletes to accumulate a billion-dollar in net value. According to Forbes Magazine, Cristiano Ronaldo banked 105 million dollars before tax in 2019 alone, a figure that escalated his already attractive net worth to hit the billion-dollar mark. From the financial reporters, it seems 2019 was a good year for the football superstar; he was also named as the fourth-highest celebrity earner, only trailing the likes of tennis legend Rodger Federer, hip-hop artist, and entrepreneur Kanye West and make-up magnate Kylie Jenner.

According to the reports, Cristiano Ronaldo has accumulated 650 million dollars in wages over the course of 17 years as a professional athlete. Surpassing half a billion-dollar in wages highlights how well Ronaldo's lawyers are good at negotiating contracts. Ronaldo first burst into the scenes as a 17-year old boy plying his trade in his native Portugal with Sporting Lisbon. He then made a big-money move to Manchester United in 2003. Under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson’s stewardship, Ronaldo became a monster of a footballer, helping the team win numerous titles, including the European cup and several domestic cups. Come 2009, Ronaldo became the most expensive footballer in the world, crossing over from Manchester United to Spanish giants Real Madrid in a 105 million dollars deal.

At Real Madrid, Ronaldo initially penned a five-year contract worth about 15 million dollars a year. His move to Madrid was historical as well, 80,000 fans attended his unveiling, breaking the 25-year record held by Diego Maradona during his presentation at Napoli. The goal-addicted Ronaldo served Real Madrid for nine seasons, before switching sides to Italian outfits Juventus in 2018. On 10th July 2018, Ronaldo signed a four-year contract with the Juventus club after completing a 132-million-dollar transfer. His contract also included an additional 15 million dollars sign-on bonuses.

Pundits concludes Ronaldo has earned his money through hard work, dedication, and discipline. The statistics behind his immense success is nothing short of super impressive. He has scored close to 800 domestic and international goals as of July 2020. Despite taking a pay cut due to the coronavirus pandemic's rippling effects, Ronaldo still managed to bank about 60 million dollars in salaries in 2020. Another area where Ronaldo has made a chunk of his staggering net worth is through his numerous lucrative endorsement deals. In 2019 alone, he walked home with checks amounting to 45 million dollars from endorsement deals. This includes 20 million dollars he makes from Nike annually, following his life-time a billion-dollar deal he signed with the sportswear giants in 2016. For a moment, take your time and absorb the fact that Ronaldo will bag at least 20 million dollars yearly for the rest of his life courtesy of Nike- I’d call that insane! At that rate, the deal will hit a billion-dollar mark when he is 73 years old. Ronaldo also harvests millions of dollars form giant brands he represents such as Tag Heuer, Herbalife, Castrol, Samsung, and KFC.
