What is focus breathing?

Today I'll be showing you what focus breathing is. I noticed it recently on my Sony 85mm 1.8 and thought it would be a good topic for a Monday video so here it is!

Focus breathing is where your lens zooms in slightly when you change the focus plane in your image. In this video I show you how the sony 85mm prime zooms in slightly when you bring the focus plane towards you.

To test any lens you have for this, put it on a tripod, switch to manual focus, set the aperture to about f16 and focus through the frame. You'll see if your lens has a lot or a little focus breathing.
