The State of Guitar Hero 2 in 2023

They grow up so fast. Guitar Hero 2 has come such a long way in 16 years, he's getting so mature!

What you're seeing is the current state of the Guitar Hero 2 Deluxe mod, courtesy of the small handful of people actively developing it over in the Milohax discord. Thanks Jnack and team.

You'll likely notice tons of cool new things that aren't in the original game, like the note streak counter, note streak popups, and the ScoreSpy-esque live input viewer just to name a few, but trust me there are shitloads of other cool things that you can mess around with in this game. Watch until the end to see me go through the menus and show off some more cool features, like custom themes.

I should also note that I played this on real hardware, not on emulator. GH2 Deluxe plays great on Xenia, which is where most of the gameplay you've probably seen of this game came from, but I wanted to show that it does indeed work on console too! The performance isn't as good as stock, there are a handful of frame drops/laggy moments, but it's still very much playable. Hell, I'm sure they would go away entirely if I had focus mode on so the game wasn't rendering a venue and player models.
