An atmospheric river storm has battered California with record amounts of rain, destructive mudslides, and violent winds.

The intense weather caused flooding and triggered mud and debris flows in the Hollywood Hills and the Santa Monica mountains. Nearly 38 million people are under flood alerts across the state and into Arizona, including about 10 million people in Los Angeles county. "This has been a tough day for our city," said Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass.
