Wizard first ever play on totp

First ever play of the Wizard on Top of the pops.
Radio 1 refused to play it at first as it was seen as a TV show theme.
er Yes but it was the TV theme to a music show presented by RADIO ONE DJS !!!!! anyway Michael Hurl the shows producer was extremely pissed off and took the decision to play it even before it was released. (this had never happened before on the program) and the following week went straight into the top 20. without this first play it may not have even seen the top 75 !
That just showed how powerful the show was back then.
Have a Listen to how much time the track was playing for throughout the 30 min show. it was played between every link and then at the end a fantastic plug by Mike Smith (Rip Mike) girls in T Shirts holding the Covers etc. and was played right to the end.

I remember His words to me were "Right If they won't play it I'l show them"
and he sure did.
