Why did the Jews execute Jesus?

Jesus was not executed because he claimed to be God. Each of the four Gospels has a clear record that shows the Jews’ concern was whether or not he was the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus was finally asked this in a specific way which required his answer. When he said that he was indeed the Christ, this met the Jews’ definition of blasphemy, which was a capital offense.
