A brief look at the fire approaching Gavilan Canyon Rd prior to the evacuation of the entire road from Highway 70 north.

We went to the nearest station to get gas for our truck, which had been sitting dormant for months due to our using a company vehicle for daily driving. Thankfully I had enough prudence to keep the battery charged on that old Ford. We picked up five gallons of fuel at the packed gas station and were able to get a better view of just how close the flames were getting. This was just a short time before evacuation.

After evacuation, as we got to Walmart, the truck was overheating because all the antifreeze must have leaked out of a crack in the freeze plug or engine block from the cold winter temperatures. My fault--stupid mistake not having a high enough concentration of antifreeze for the winter.

ALL EVACUATIONS ARE STILL IN EFFECT.

The wind is picking up, making air suppression efforts impossible at this time.
