Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha - (Arcade) Play as Evil Ryu (Playthrough) + (Dialogues & Ending)
This playthrough showcases Evil Ryu (Satsui no Hado ni Mezameta Ryu) in Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha along with unused dialogue, hidden story interactions, and restored ending content that never appeared in the localized console releases.
Evil Ryu represents Ryu after awakening to the Satsui no Hado (Surge of Killing Intent) — a darker path of martial arts driven by pure destructive power. Because of this transformation, many of his abilities are altered and enhanced compared to normal Ryu.
Gameplay Differences from Ryu:
• Hadoken – All strengths become red fireballs. At close range they cause knockdown and the medium/strong versions deal higher stun.
• Shoryuken – Medium and heavy versions become multi-hitting attacks. While this can cause dropped combos if used improperly, it allows new juggle opportunities similar to Akuma. They deal less stun as anti-airs but more damage during grounded combos.
• Tatsumaki Senpukyaku – Medium and heavy versions are multi-hitting and gain an additional hitbox on the way up (similar to Akuma and Ken). This creates new juggle possibilities but reduces overall damage and stun.
• Air Tatsumaki – Medium and heavy versions also hit multiple times. Damage and stun are reduced unless all hits connect.
• Teleport – A completely new movement ability similar to Akuma’s teleport.
• Messatsu Goshoryu – A powerful new super attack.
• Shun Goku Satsu (Raging Demon) – Another new move inherited from Akuma.
• Infinite Custom Combo Blowout Range – Evil Ryu’s CC activation has no range restriction and can interrupt even active normals. It can hit from full screen, making his custom combo pressure extremely dangerous and unique.
• Defense Modifier – Evil Ryu has the lowest defense rating in the game, meaning he takes significantly more damage (similar to Akuma).
Playstyle Overview:
Strengths:
• Excellent anti-air attacks
• Strong normal moves
• Fast overhead attacks
• Teleport mobility
• Very powerful super attacks
• Exceptional zoning thanks to one of the strongest fireballs in the game
• Tatsumaki knocks down opponents, making it effective against fireballs
• One of the best meterless anti-air DPs against jump-in custom combos
• Infinite CC blowout range allows unique combo routes
Weaknesses:
• Lowest defense in the game, resulting in heavy damage taken
• Multi-hit Shoryuken can drop combos if spaced incorrectly
• Raging Demon is mostly impractical and often used only for style
Story and Dialogue Restoration:
In the English releases, Evil Ryu shares the same rival fights and ending as normal Ryu. However, the original Japanese data contains unique dialogue and an alternate ending, which were not included in localized console versions.
For this playthrough, I restored and showcased these elements.
Midboss Battle – Sakura Interaction:
Sakura finally finds Ryu but quickly realizes something is wrong.
Sakura: pant pant… I finally found you… huh? You’re…
Ryu: …
Sakura: You’re not the same person as before… what happened?!
Ryu: You are in my way… I will show no mercy!
Final Battle – VS Akuma (Gouki):
Akuma: Hmm… quite a sharp look in your eyes… for a boy.
Ryu: Akuma… you’re Master Gouken’s enemy!
Akuma: Hah! You’re nothing but a mere beginner. Do you think that pathetic killing power of yours can defeat me?
Ending:
After defeating Akuma, Ryu stands with his fists soaked in blood. He then disappears, leaving his fate unknown.
Did Ryu fully embrace the true Satsui no Hado?
Did he defeat Akuma and succeed him as the Master of the Fist?
Only time will tell when we see him again.
This video also includes:
• The English translated version of the hidden ending
• The original Japanese ending text
All gameplay was recorded to highlight Evil Ryu’s abilities and to preserve these unused story elements and dialogue discovered in the game’s data, originally documented by The Cutting Room Floor.
