Axle Lock | How To | 2020 Ram 1500 DT
Learn how to activate axle lock for four wheel drive. 2020 Ram 1500 DT features an open differential / locking differential for improved off road handling.
Transcript
[music playing]
If equipped, the rear axle lock system allows the rear differential to mechanically lock together the axle shafts forcing the wheels to spin at an equal rate. This improves handling in low-speed, extreme off-road situations where one wheel is likely not to be in contact with the ground.
Operating in 4-Wheel Drive Low the locker can be engaged up to 40 mph or 64 km/h and will remain engaged throughout the 4-Wheel Drive Low speed range.
Operating the locker in 2-Wheel Drive, 4-Wheel Drive Auto, and 4-Wheel Drive High the locker can be engaged up to 20 mph or 32 km/h. While driving with the locker engaged, if speed exceeds 25 mph or 40 km/h, the locker will automatically disengage, but will automatically reengage at 20 mph or 32 km/h.
You’ll find the Axle Lock button below the gear selector.
To unlock the rear axle; push the axle lock button and the indicator light will go out.
