SING SCRIPTURE | ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS' NAME | REVELATION 7:11
This is one of the most iconic hymns in all of Christian worship — All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name, often called the Coronation Hymn. Sung here with soaring soprano and high-soprano voices, this rendition lifts the heart to honour Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords.
📜 Hymn Background
Writer: Edward Perronet (1726–1792)
Additional stanza (popular version): John Rippon (1751–1836)
Tune: Usually sung to Coronation (Oliver Holden, 1793) or Diadem (James Ellor, 1838)
Edward Perronet was a close companion of John Wesley in the early Methodist movement. Though quiet and reluctant to preach publicly, he wrote hymns of extraordinary power. This hymn, published in 1779, quickly became known as the “national anthem of Christendom,” sung across continents, cultures, and generations.
John Rippon later added the beloved stanza beginning “O that with yonder sacred throng…”, completing the version most churches sing today.
📖 Biblical Foundations
The hymn draws from strong scriptural images of heavenly worship:
Revelation 7:11
“And all the angels… fell before the throne on their faces and worshipped God.”
— reflected in the line: “Let angels prostrate fall.”
Philippians 2:9–11
“God has given Him a name above every name…”
— the exaltation of the Name of Jesus.
Revelation 5 & 19
The Lamb enthroned, crowned with many crowns, worshipped by every tribe, tongue, and nation.
Psalm 72:11,17
“All kings shall fall down before Him… His name shall endure forever.”
This hymn gathers all these truths into one triumphant chorus:
“Crown Him Lord of all.”
🎤 About This Performance
This version is sung by soprano and high soprano voices, giving the hymn a luminous, angelic quality.
Pure tone, clear lines, classical phrasing — a sound that lifts the spirit and draws the heart to worship.
🙏 Message
May this hymn remind you of the majesty of Jesus.
May it strengthen your faith, steady your heart, and fill your home with praise.
The Name of Jesus is exalted in heaven; may He be exalted in us.
