Is this a Human or Monkey ?

The monkey looks like a Human... Found him in a Zoo and I and our family felt very sad seeing him as his gestures were close to human and he is alone there ( not sure ). Even after years later, we still talk about this at home and somewhere we had little sadness come with this topic. :-(
