Katherine's lovers: Elijah and Trevor did everything in their power to save her from Klaus, Stefan and Damon were dating her at the same time ,and finally, Mason found the moonstone for her and got killed for that
Elena's lovers: Matt loved her but she wasn't feeling the same, Stefan and Damon were able to sacrifice their own lives for her, and when she lost her memories of Damon, she started dating Liam
