Ferplast Rat Cages, Jenny, old & new/ Furet Plus/Mary.

These are the cages our female rats live in, the Mary is only suitable as a temporary house, we use it while the bigger cages are being cleaned out. It is also ok to use as a hospital cage for sick or very old rats or for very young baby rats for a short time, but make sure you get the rats out several times a day for exercise and move them into a bigger cage as soon as possible. We also use the Mary as an isolation cage whenever we get new rats to make sure they are in good health. About half our rats come to us as rescues and often they have infections or mites caused by stress and we don't want all our rats to get sick. You should never put more than two adult female rats in a Mary and only as a very short term home. If we get a lone rescue rat we socialise her as soon as possibe as rats can get very depressed if kept on their own.
