Facts to Know about RMS Titanic

RMS Titanic was a British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line. She sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on April 15th, 1912 after striking an iceberg. Titanic was on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. Of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard, more than 1,500 died, making it the deadliest sinking of a single ship at that time.
Titanic lay on the ocean floor undisturbed until 1985, when a crew, led by Robert Ballard, discovered her resting place. Since then many exploration groups have been to the site to retrieve artifacts and to extensively map what remains of RMS Titanic.
