My tribute on Joan Sutherland's Birthday

On Nov/Dec 1973 the Met staged a new production of Offenbach´s The Tales of Hoffmann, starring Joan Sutheraland in all soprano roles, Placido Domingo as the young poet, Thomas Stewart in all the devil roles and Hugette Toureangeau as Nicklausse conducted by Richard Bonynge. It was planned to initiate the Live from the Met telecast series, but due to lighting problems it was decided not to air the performance. Still Joan perforance can be appreciated in all its glory as well as all the others in top vocal form. In this trio that ends the Antonia scene Thomas Stewart is Dr. Miracle and we hear Cynthia Munster as the Mother´s voice.
