A Winter Solstice Prayer

Winter Solstice. A time to give thanks to nature and the return of the Sun.

This fire celebrates the rebirth of the World and all the blessings of this past year.

I thank Oak, for the storms that it held

I thank Water, for the ancestral words it whispered

I thank Bracken, for the love that it sheltered

I thank Hazel, for the home that it wove

I thank Redcurrant, for the inevitable joy of being

I thank Mōna, for holding my gaze

I thank Sol, for the sanguine pale dawn

I thank Earth, for the renewal that it nourishes

I thank that Tree of which no one knows from where its roots run

For the depth of its love

For the sacred fury it bears

May its leaves smile on us always

As I smile with your Names on my tongue

Carve that wildness into me

With thanks to:
Herknungr, Musician, playing “Spekð".
