"Consolation - in memory of Matthew Krel" by Elena Kats-Chernin (ORCHESTRAL VERSION)

This piece was written by Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin in memory of her friend and colleague Matthew Krel (1945-2009), founding conductor of the SBS Radio & Television Youth Orchestra. http://www.sbsyo.org.au

This is the orchestrated version of the original string quartet. It was performed by SBS Youth Orchestra 18 April 2010 in Sydney Town Hall with Dr Geoffrey Gartner (a former principal cellist of the Orchestra) conducting.

This video replaces the String Quartet version which was written on the day of Matthew Krel's death and recorded at his funeral at Temple Emanuel, Sydney, 25 May 2009.
