Based on a true story, Yana Azmi Tan was encouraged by her father to do something that she enjoys - making homemade kimchi. She had doubts shadowing her - “Isn’t she too old to be doing her own business?” “How would she even start?” “Does she have the right knowledge to run a business?”. Undeterred, she drew strength from her father to make a life altering change

The beginning was challenging as she juggled the logistics & operations of selling her kimchi with her father. Entering Shopee’s marketplace as a seller made it so much easier for her - supporting her with the tools to boost & support her business. As her business picked up, the pandemic hit Malaysia - & everything took a turn. Her business had to be closed for a month when she fell sick with the virus - & her father, her pillar of strength, passed away from the virus. How do you find the strength to pick up the pieces? How do you gather the courage to go on?

This Ramadan, as we enter the third year of fulfilling the holy month during a pandemic, we invite you to take a journey with us in Shopee Diaries as a tribute to all who have dared to dream for a change, & their heroes with their relentless support.
