To add Kali Linux to VMware, follow these steps:

Download Kali Linux ISO:
Visit the official Kali Linux download page and download the appropriate ISO image for your system 32-bit or 64-bit.
Install VMware Workstation or Player:
If you haven't already, download and install VMware Workstation Pro or VMware Workstation Player from the VMware website. The Player is free for personal use, while Workstation Pro is paid but offers more features.
Create a New Virtual Machine:
Open VMware and click on "Create a New Virtual Machine" or "File" : "New Virtual Machine" if you're using Workstation Pro.
Choose Installation Method:
Select "Installer disc image file - iso" and browse to where you saved the Kali Linux ISO file. Click "Next."
Select Guest Operating System:
Choose "Linux" as the guest operating system. Since Kali Linux is based on Debian, select the latest version of Debian from the list :e.g., Debian 11 or 12. Click "Next."
Name the Virtual Machine:
Enter a name for your virtual machine e.g., "Kali Linux" and choose where you want to save the virtual machine files on your computer. Click "Next."
Specify Disk Capacity:
Set the disk size. At least 20 GB is recommended for Kali Linux. You can choose to store the virtual disk as a single file or split it into multiple files. Click "Next."
Customize Hardware -Optional:
You'll have the option to customize hardware settings. Here you can adjust:
Memory -RAM: At least 2 GB, 4 GB or more recommended.
Processors: Depending on your host system capabilities, you might assign more than one core.
Network adapter: Ensure it's set to "NAT" or "Bridged" based on your network needs.
Other settings like display, USB controller, etc., can be left at defaults or adjusted as needed. Click "Finish" when done.
Start the Virtual Machine:
Click "Finish" to complete VM creation. Then, click on the VM in VMware's library and select "Play virtual machine."
Install Kali Linux:
Follow the on-screen instructions in the graphical installer:
Select your language and location.
Choose a hostname, domain name if applicable, and set a password for the root user.
Configure the partition : select "Guided - Use entire disk" for simplicity.
Install GRUB bootloader when prompted.
Post Installation:
After installation, reboot the VM. Log in with your root credentials.
Optionally, install VMware Tools for better performance and integration with your host system by selecting "VM" "Install VMware Tools" in VMware's menu.
Update Kali Linux:
Open a terminal in Kali and run:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
This will update Kali Linux to the latest packages.
Remember, Kali Linux is designed for penetration testing and should be used responsibly. Ensure your host machine has enough resources to handle running a virtual machine smoothly. If you encounter any issues during installation, web searches or posts on platforms like X can provide additional guidance or troubleshooting tips.
