NEW FOREST WALK AT SWAY (NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK)

My series of "New Forest Walks", with my Whippet, continues with this super walk at Sway. I start off with a gentle stroll through the village of Sway itself, including a peep inside the Church, passing the Railway Station & rambling along an old "Smugglers Route" before heading in to one of the most delightful woods in the New Forest - Set Thorns Inclosure - located to the North West of the village.
The route then takes me along an old disused railway line, across heathland and then back to the village where I end up at a charming pub - The Hare & Hounds.

(For some reason, I incorrectly state the names of the Forestry Commission Car Parks. The correct names are A) Longslade Car Park & B) Longslade View Car Park. Please accept my apologies!).

I use a GOPRO HERO 7 Black Action Camera together with a Canon SX 400IS.

FULL ROUTE DETAILS:

Turn left from front porch of Hare &Hounds Pub by B3055. At crossroads turn right along Church Lane. Pass Sway Church on your right. Continue to junction & turn right up Station Road. Pass station on left & fork left along Mead End Road. Pass Normandy Close on right & continue up Mead End Road.
Turn right along Adams Lane (pass Kettlethorns House). The lane becomes a gravel track leading downhill to a gate (by Pony Pound) into Set Thorns Inclosure. Pass a path immediately on your right & keep straight ahead, passing another path on your right. Continue uphill, bearing left on track until you come to crosstrack at brow of hill. Bear right & follow undulating track (keep ahead over all crossing tracks) & go through gate at end of inclosure.
Cross minor road to Longslade (NOT Longsdale as I say in the video!) Car Park. Follow track leading down to Longslade Bottom. At dismantled railway bridge, climb up on to old railway track & follow track right for a mile to next bridge. At next bridge, come off track (right) & follow gravel track uphill to Longslade View car park. Cross car park & minor road. Follow right hand of two heathland paths ahead for ¼ mile. Path dips into shallow valley. Cross dip & turn right to follow green track to a road. . Follow this road for ¾ mile to meet B3055 & return to Hare & H ounds Pub. Which is close to junction (right – back into Sway).
