Visitors to the Big Sur region will have plenty to do. Some of the most fun things for tourists to do while visiting the region of Big Sur include taking a trip to one of the area’s beautiful state parks, strolling along the sands of Pfeiffer Beach, gazing in awe at the manmade wonder of Bixby Bridge, exploring Partington Cove, and visiting the Henry Miller Memorial Library. Big Sur is home to numerous impressive state parks, with two of the most popular amongst tourists being Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. Both parks are named after one of the region’s preeminent pioneers, with one being located closer to the coast and one being located a bit further inland.

Pfeiffer Beach is one of the best beaches in the Big Sur region, though you’ll need to take a fairly narrow road to get to it. Though RVs can’t travel the road, the two-mile drive is worth it for the peaceful seclusion. Bixby Bridge was built in 1932 and stands a staggering 260 feet tall. Today, the bridge is a favorite spot for tourists to get out and take pictures.

Partington Cove is a 60-foot tunnel that can be accessed via a small hike through a mile-long forest, and traversing through the tunnel will lead you to a particularly calm beach area. Finally, the Henry Miller Memorial Library is home to the second-largest collection of manuscripts from the late celebrated author, who called the Big Sur region his home. From visiting one of the region’s many state parks to learning about the life and work of Big Sur resident and author Henry Miller at the Henry Miller Library, join ViewCation as we explore the best things to do in Bug Sur, California.
