WATCH: Coverage and analysis ahead of the ceremonial royal funeral for Prince Philip
Watch Prince Philip’s funeral events with the newsroom of the Washington Post. Prince Philip, the former naval officer and steadfast husband of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, died April 9. He was 99.
The death at Windsor Castle was announced by the royal family. Philip was the longest-serving consort in British history.
Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Philip's funeral will take place at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle — but in keeping with coronavirus precautions, the ceremony will be "much reduced in scale with no public access." The palace said the number of mourners will be limited to 30. Both the British government and the royal family asked the public to stay home rather than pay respects in person.
Libby Casey will anchor with Hannah Jewell and Rhonda Colvin in the Washington Post newsroom and will feature the funeral in full and uninterrupted. We will have many guests and reporters from London including William Booth and Jennifer Hasan of the Post’s London bureau. Plus, commentary from Autumn Brewington and columnist James Hohmann. Karla Adams will report from Buckingham Palace. Read more: https://wapo.st/3wCo6Wh. Subscribe to The Washington Post on YouTube: https://wapo.st/2QOdcqK
