An Intermodal Train running 70 MPH could make the trip to New Orleans in about two and a half hours, providing the dispatcher not holding you out in a siding. A train containing mostly full Tank Cars can take a long time to stop and it could also shove the whole train as the liquids rushed to the front of the tank cars, especially if the brakes were applied at the front of the train. There could also be no hazardous cars within the first five behind the locomotive consist. A short heavy train is harder to stop, due to weight and less wheels for breaking.
