Annual Indexation of Skilled Visa Income Thresholds – Effective 1 July 2025
Starting 1 July 2025, Australia will implement a 4.6% increase in income thresholds for various skilled visa categories, aligning with the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). This annual indexation ensures that wages for skilled migrants keep pace with Australian workers' earnings, preventing wage undercutting and maintaining labor market integrity.
KEYS
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): Increases from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515. Applies to the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186).
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): Rises from AUD 135,000 to AUD 141,210. Pertains to the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482).
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): Increases from AUD 73,150 to AUD 76,515. Relevant for the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494) and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 187).
