🍲 Classic Beef Bourguignon 🍲
Indulge in the rich, hearty flavors of this timeless French dish! Perfectly tender beef simmered in a luscious red wine sauce with carrots, onions, and aromatic herbs. Comfort food at its finest!
Ingredients:
2 lbs (900g) beef chuck, cut into 1-2 inch cubes
4 slices bacon, diced
1 large onion, chopped
2 carrots, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 cups red wine (Burgundy or Pinot Noir)
2 cups beef broth
1 tsp fresh thyme
2 bay leaves
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
Salt & pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
In a large pot, cook bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
Brown the beef cubes in the same pot, working in batches. Remove and set aside.
Sauté onions, carrots, and garlic until softened. Add tomato paste and cook 1-2 minutes.
Deglaze with red wine, scraping up any browned bits.
Return beef and bacon to the pot, add beef broth, thyme, and bay leaves.
Cover and simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours until beef is tender.
In the last 30 minutes, add mushrooms. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
Serve with creamy mashed potatoes, crusty bread, or over buttered noodles.
✨ Tip: For extra richness, use a full-bodied red wine and simmer slowly.
