I've spent 12 years installing intruder alarms, CCTV, fire and access control for an NSI Gold accredited company and I still do it day in, day out. So when people ask me "are DIY security systems any good, or are they a waste of money?", I can give a straight answer from both sides of the fence.

In this video I break it down properly: the real advantages of a DIY home security system, who it genuinely suits, who's better off getting a professional in, and how to work out which one you are. I'm not here to slag off professional installers.. I am one, and I'm not here to oversell DIY either. Just an honest, no-nonsense verdict from someone who does this for a living.
