Solar system

Our solar system consists of the Sun and eight recognized planets. Ordered by their distance from the Sun, these planets are divided into two primary categories: the rocky inner terrestrial planets and the gas/ice giants of the outer solar system.

Mercury: The smallest and closest planet to the Sun. It experiences extreme temperature fluctuations.Venus: The second planet from the Sun and the hottest, blanketed by a thick, heat-trapping atmosphere of carbon dioxide.Earth: The third planet from the Sun, the only known world to harbor organic life, and our home.Mars: The fourth planet from the Sun, known as the Red Planet due to iron oxide on its surface, and home to Olympus Mons, the tallest volcano in the solar system.
