Could The ID.4... Electrify America? Our First Look at VW's New All-Electric SUV

This week we got to spend some time with one of the first production-ready ID.4's to reach California. This "1st Edition" electric SUV is expected to have a range of about 250 miles from its 82 kWh pack and costs $43,995. While the other trims range from about $40,000 to about $50,000. On top of that, it still qualifies for many of the local and federal incentives meaning you might be able to get a spec'd out ID.4 for less than $40,000. The ID.4 comes standard with VW's IQ.Drive including features like their Travel Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist (lane-keeping system), Emergency Assist (emergency braking with pedestrian monitoring) Blind Spot Monitoring & Rear Traffic Alert. It even gets 3 years of unlimited DC Fast Charging at Electrify America chargers at no additional cost.

All things considered, we think this is going to be a great EV when it hits the market. It's no Tesla, but it's also not in the same league as a Tesla. For ~$30,000 this EV packs a ton of standard features and could own the low end of the EV market.
