CNC Laser Yoda on Sacrificial CNC Router Board

Hi, this is Jon from CNCROi.com, and today we're going to take a look at a fun project where we turned an old sacrificial board into a cool design. After about two years of CNC routing, I needed to replace the sacrificial board on our ShopBot Desktop CNC router, and instead of just discarding it, I decided to make something interesting with it. This piece, made from one-inch MDF (25.4 mm), has quite a bit of history as it’s been to Australia and back from Canada. It’s a sentimental piece, and I wanted to create something memorable from it. Let’s dive into how it was made using both CNC routing and laser cutting technology.
This project turned out to be both fun and easy, especially since the sacrificial board was going to be replaced anyway. It shows just how versatile both CNC routers and lasers can be.
