He followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps by studying mathematics, as well as computer science. He enrolled at Stanford University to acquire a Ph.D. in computer science. During an orientation for new students at Stanford, he met Larry Page. They crammed their dormitory room with inexpensive computers and applied Brin's data mining system to build a web search engine. He is an investor in Tesla Motors. He has a personal wealth of US$47.2 billion. He's the President of Google's parent company Alphabet Inc. Some compared Page and Brin's vision to the impact of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of modern printing. He received the Academy of Achievement's Golden Plate Award with Larry Page.
