Adam Rapa and Armenian State Jazz Orchestra Conductor : Armen Hyusnunts 7 September 2013 Yerevan, Armenia.

​I spent two weeks in Armenia for concerts, masterclasses and taking in inspiration. The biggest concert of the trip was held in Yerevan, their capital city, in the gorgeous Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, where the Armenian Philharmonic performs. This was a collaboration with the Armenian Jazz Band, a state-sponsored big band with some magnificent talents, especially their director and saxophonist, Armen Hyusnunts.

I also gave masterclasses at the Conservatory of Music in Yeravan and also in their 2nd largest city, Gyumri.

Besides providing some inspiration to the audiences in my travels, I also received a LOT of inspiration. Armenian folk music is some of my favorite traditional music on the planet, and I'm thankful to have gotten a lot of exposure on my trip.

Future collaborations are already being planned, and I'm really looking forward to returning to this fascinating country.
