International Anthony Burgess Foundation Podcast: Quest for Fire at 40

In this episode, we're celebrating the fortieth anniversary of Jean-Jacques Annuad's film Quest for Fire, for which Anthony Burgess invented the languages of the cavemen characters.

To celebrate the film's anniversary, the Burgess Foundation's Will Carr talks to actor and movement director Peter Elliott. In Quest for Fire, Peter played Mikr, a member of the Paleolithic Ulam tribe, who are searching for the source of the fire they need to survive.

Since Quest for Fire, his first film, Peter has become the film industry's leading expert in movement direction and choreography, especially of animal and non-human characters. His work can be seen in films such as Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Gorillas in the Mist and The Island of Doctor Moreau.

In this episode of the podcast, Peter reminisces about his time on the set of Quest for Fire, meeting Anthony Burgess and Desmond Morris, and dealing with stampeding woolly mammoths in the highlands of Scotland.
