E-petitions: Relating to China's policy on its Uighur population

MPs from across the House of Commons debate a petition relating to China’s Uighur population.

The debate will be led by Petitions Committee member Chris Evans MP, and a Minister from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office will respond on behalf of the Government.

This debate has been scheduled in response to a petition calling on the Government to Impose sanctions on China over its treatment of Uyghur Muslims, which received over 148,000 signatures.

The debate will last 90 minutes, and will take place in Westminster Hall – the House of Commons second Chamber.

What are petitions debates?
Petitions debates are ‘general’ debates which allow MPs from all parties to discuss the important issues raised by one or more petitions, and put their concerns to Government Ministers.
