My Model Railroad
My "Rockville" layout consists of two sections that were positioned side by side in L-shape. The bottom vertical section is the Rockville Industrial area. I bought this as an incomplete layout with tracks and some buildings in place and with no landscaping. It's on a tilt-able 2m x 1.5m baseboard mounted on a steel frame with four swivel wheels.
I added the buildings, mountain and general landscaping.
The upper section being the Rockville urban areas with the main station, residential, loading and yard areas and the main lines. I planned this new section with the aid of SCARM software and built it myself from scratch during 2015 - including the baseboard, electrical, tracks, buildings, lighting and controls. The transition from the Industrial section to the expanded urban layout, is by means of a flyover where the two baseboards meet. Later expansions included two surrounding flyovers with one being "through the wall" and back. The full extent of the layout is in analogue as the locos that I have obtained initially, were not DCC-ready so I decided to follow the "old school" approach.
