Steam can be dangerous due to several factors: its ability to cause deeper burns than hot water, the release of latent heat when it condenses, and the potential for dangerous pressure and temperature fluctuations in industrial settings. In short, steam burns are more severe because the steam changes phase (from gas to liquid) upon contact with the skin, releasing a large amount of energy and causing deep burns
