ASCII art on a restored Diablo HyType II Daisy Wheel printer

In this video I show some info about daisy wheel printing in general and details about the Diablo HyType II daisy wheel printer manufactured around 1979. This is the second generation of daisy wheel printers made by Diablo. Dr Andrew Gabor while at Diablo invented the practical useful daisy wheel printing technology and was awarded two patents for this invention.

Out printer had once been used with a Logica word processing system. Now long ago scrapped. The printer survived and was now restored to operational status again.

A small interface board based on the STM32 microcontroller was constructed to make it work with modern day equipment.

Finally we try the printer out extensively by having it to print ASCII Art pictures created by S P Harbison in 1972. The full print takes 28 minutes.
