Olympus Is Gone - My memories, including my start in astrophotography
On June 24th 2020, Olympus announced its exit from the camera business after 84 years. They are selling their camera division to JIP in Japan.
I got my start in photography with Olympus OM-1 and OM-2n cameras as a staff photographer for the Daily Illini at the University of Illinois in 1983. The OM-1 was also my first astrophotography camera.
It took me a while to collect my thoughts and memories of my time with these cameras. I hope you enjoy them!
What are your memories of Olympus cameras, and of film cameras in general?
