avatar: the last airbender's iconic comedic device

through my rewatches of atla, I started to pick up on several instances where there would be a quick switch in mood from serious to silly and it would produce comedy. (at least I found it funny, hope I'm not the only one yikes)

anyway, I found this device kinda interesting, so I did some googling and apparently it's called "bathos." bryke did NOT invent it, but they used it quite a bit in the show, so I wanted to put together some clips to show people. yes. here you go. be proud of me. jk
