NEW FOREST WALK AT CADMAN'S POOL (NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK)

This is another video in my series “New Forest Walks” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I undertake a 5 mile circular route from Cadman's Pool (just South of the small hamlet of Fritham). GRID REF : SU229121. Nearest Post Code: SO43 7GN

Cadman's Pool is a man -made lake (from the 1960's) which is now a breeding spot for ducks & geese. Leaving the pool (which is located on the very outskirts of the old WW2 RAF Stoney Cross Airfield), I head south through Anses Wood (where there are plenty of different tree fungi to discover!) to then follow the Dockens Water going East towards Fritham. I then head North through Queen North Wood up on to Fritham Plain where I get to see Common Cotton Grass (wild white flowers) at a spring before passing by Green Pond.

I then head West in to the Sloden Inclosure where I set out to find the remains of a Royal Hunting Lodge deep in the woods! My route then takes me South through Holly Hatch Inclosure & back to my starting point at Cadman's Pool.
