The paper mill Hermes & Cie GmbH moved in 1911 to the port on the Fringsstraße. Cardboard boxes for Persil were manufactured in the 1920's. Already at that time waste paper was returned to the production cycle, which at that time was already a special feature. Over the decades of the 20th century, production was successful. In the year 2003 the paper mill Hermes became a 100% daughter of the company Curtis 1000Europe AG. Due to excessive energy costs, the paper mill announced insolvency in July 2008.
